Allan Oviedo - Costa Rica

Allan Oviedo, a second-generation coffee farmer, inherited half of his father's land about twenty years ago. Initially, he sold his cherries to a local car wash at low prices. At the same time, he worked as a taxi driver in San Jose to save money and improve his farm. Gradually, he invested in processing his own coffee and built a small factory, named Don Joel in honor of his father.

Located in the picturesque West Valley, the Don Joel plantation covers only 12 hectares, but produces a respectable quantity of coffee. Allan has owned it for about ten years. The SL28 variety was selected in Kenya in the 1930s for its drought resistance, but it has also demonstrated its hardiness, high yields, and exceptional cup quality. It has since spread throughout Central and South America.

Last year, Allan introduced a new drum dryer, which optimized the drying process for several batches of coffee.

This coffee offers a smooth texture and aromas of red grape, red cherry, dark chocolate, and hazelnut. Its balanced acidity and buttery caramel finish guarantee exceptional taste pleasure with every sip.
