- Description
Francy Castillo and her four sisters grew up helping their parents on their coffee farm in Arboleda, Nariño, Colombia, which inspired her to specialize in agronomy to support and manage the family business.
The family farm, El Ubérrimo, is ideally located to benefit from the region's volcanic soil, rich in minerals from the eruptions of the Galeras volcano. Nariño coffee has become a local economic pillar and a key player in the global reputation of Colombian coffee.
Beyond its ideal location, the farm benefits from Francy's innovative attention to detail and sustainable practices, including meticulous planning of seed selection, optimization of post-harvest storage, and soil conservation techniques. Francy has also adjusted planting distances to give each coffee plant enough space for healthy root and canopy development, essential for good growth.
All of Francy's meticulousness is evident in the resulting coffee. This smooth, clean cup from Francy offers notes of strawberry jam, 60% dark chocolate, and vinous flavors.
