Write your own story
Issue 47 of Like the Wind pays tribute to runners who run because they can't help it, because they can't imagine not doing so. And to creatives who create because they can't help it, inspired by the trails or tracks, transforming those moments into works of art, poetry, photography, words, and ideas. Sometimes a race is just a race, but running is so much more than that.
In our featured article, Jonathan S. Bean explores a new category of experiential running events: “Running is changing, with a growing recognition of what some communities have long known: beyond competition, running can be a vehicle for social connection, adventure, and spiritual growth.” And in “Creative Pursuit,” Jaymes Shrimski gathers the stories of runners in Manila, who explain how they use running as inspiration for their creative pursuits. “Running gives me the space to write my own story as I go, rather than setting a goal and running to achieve it.”
Across 130 beautifully illustrated pages of photographs and custom-commissioned artwork, this issue of Like the Wind celebrates the spirit of runners who cannot and will not be stopped. We have selected a wealth of stories from around the world, covering all aspects of running, including track and field, training, road marathons, and trail running, from ultramarathons to personal quests.
