Coffee Break with Alex // Introduction

La Pause Café avec Alex // Introduction
- By Alex Lafrenière
Demystifying the art of coffee one cup at a time

Am I the only one who motivates herself to go to bed at night with the idea that it brings me closer to my morning coffee? I can't be the only one to consider the ritual of preparing coffee as a kind of home meditation that cures all ills... right? To me, it's obvious that the warm and energizing nature of a good cup of freshly brewed coffee makes it a must-have for starting the day off right.

Surprisingly, the taste of the coffee didn't impress me at first sip. I had to, slowly not quickly, tame the particularly bitter notes of this fierce drink. As with many, my love affair with coffee began in a adulterated form such as extra cocoa mocha, extra whipped cream and extra explosion of flavors. Then followed the latte sweetened with maple syrup and not long later, the latte without added sugar. I then jumped to the cappuccino, then the cortado and finally finished with my favorite preparation to date, the black filter coffee. As with running, everyone moves at their own pace and that's fine!
That said, even the steps prior to tasting, such as shopping for a new bag of coffee or pouring a cup, can, for many, be quite a headache. Like Narnia's wardrobe: the world of coffee seems simple on the outside, but is truly infinite once you look inside.

With the Coffee Break section , I invite you to share a cup of your favorite preparation with me and, at the same time, to demystify certain subtleties of this divine nectar that we can no longer do without. Whether it is the coffee extraction parameters, the different types of preparation, the roasting principle or even the principles of decaffeination, we will explore together certain themes surrounding coffee and break everything down into small, easy-to-digest pieces.
So…this is a date? :)

See you soon!
